The tram takes you through the city center with its magnificent villas and you can explore their history in the technology museum. The car pioneer Ferdinand Porsche was born nearby. For VW and Porsche fans, the birthplace and family grave are like a place of pilgrimage. Jablonec nad Nisou, formerly Gablonz, has always been known for its artistic glass decorations. Freight trains don't transport glass these days, but they still transport wood from the Jizera Mountains. And between Tanvald and Kořenov there is a rack railway that has been declared a cultural monument. After numerous tunnels, the train crosses the river from which the mountains take their name. The bridge over the Jizera is a highlight of the route.
