I have been hiking and fishing all my life, and have been hiking in the wilderness in Lapland for over ten years. Although I have experience with winter hiking, expedition-style winter hiking in open fells and arctic conditions is something entirely different. I decided a few years ago that I would slowly but surely start to accumulate both equipment and my own knowledge related to the subject. Since then, I have taken, among others, a ski hiking and snowstorm course organized by Ankat Avotunturit. I have done a few different ski hikes in the northern wilderness and am currently preparing for a very demanding winter survival course. I am still at the beginning of my winter hiking career, but I still feel that I can already share some opinions and educated guesses on the subject. The topics of the video include: Layering, shell clothing, break clothing, fell skis, forest skis, sliding snowshoes and sledding. 0:00 - 0:20 Intro 0:20 - 2:05 The difference between hiking and demanding winter hiking 2:05 - 2:34 Särmä merino boxers 2:34 - 3:05 Layering 3:05- 3:50 Devold Expedition Hoodie 3:50 - 4:25 Jack Wolfskin baselayer pants 4:25 - 5:30 Vaarinpaita 5:30 - 7:10 Ski pants (RAB) 7:10 - 7:59 Morobbia 3L shell jacket 7:59 - 9:35 Morobbia 3L shell pants 9:35 - 10:30 Midlayer and Down vest 10:30 - 11:40 Sealskinz Head Gaitor 11:40 - 13:00 1995 SERIES DOWN PANT 13:00 - 13:55 Fjällräven Polar Bib Trousers 13:55 - 15:15 Jack Wolfskin 1995 SERIES PARKA 15:15 - 16:00 Hesta Army Leather Extreme Mitt 16:00 - 17:19 Storm glasses - Scott Primal Safari Facemask 17:19 - 18:05 Rab Vapor Block Socks 18:05 - 18:30 Alpina Alaska NNNBC boots 18:30 - 19:10 Alpina BC Overboot boot protector 19:10 - 19:37 Gaiters - Gaiters 19:37 - 20:40 Sorel Glacier XT WP - Winter boots 20:40 - 21:40 Fjellpulken XCountry 144 sled 21:40 - 22:45 Fjellpulken Xpack Rucksack 40 22:45 - 23:30 Åsnes Instag skis vs sliding snowshoes 23:30 - 26:17 Sled pull side - Handles vs pull cord
