All these questions and more are answered by Dr. Sameh Allam, Professor of Cardiology at Al-Azhar Faculty of Medicine, in this video. First: When does the pain go away after heart stenting? The pain after stenting usually disappears days to weeks after the procedure, and the recovery period after stenting ranges from 2 to 4 weeks. If the pain is severe, the cause of the pain is diagnosed after stenting to determine the best treatment methods. The pain after stenting may be due to other blocked areas in the artery, and the patient may need to undergo a second stenting procedure. If the pain after stenting is severe and not due to other blocked areas in the artery, the cardiologist may resort to inserting a type of cardiac catheterization called a drug catheterization, which is used to insert a specific type of medication directly into the artery, thus relieving the pain directly and quickly. What are the symptoms after stenting? The severity of symptoms after stenting varies from person to person depending on the person's health condition, the number of stents, and the age group. The symptoms after stenting are similar among people who have undergone stenting in: 1- Shortness of breath. 2- Chest pain sometimes. 3- Nausea and vomiting. 4- Heart palpitations. 5- Redness and swelling at the site of catheter and stent insertion. Note: Not all people will experience the same symptoms after inserting a heart stent, but if you notice these symptoms increasing and worsening over time, you should go to the best cardiologist in Egypt in terms of speed and accuracy of diagnosing heart diseases. The most important advice after inserting heart stents that any excellent cardiologist can advise is: 1- Take medications at specific times in the required doses as prescribed by the doctor. 2- Completely stop direct smoking and stay away from passive or indirect smoking. 3- Continuous follow-up with an excellent cardiologist at re-visit appointments as determined by the doctor. 4- Try to avoid any strenuous physical effort that may affect heart health. 5- Practice simple and non-strenuous exercise according to the doctor's instructions. 6- Focus on non-fatty foods that are not high in cholesterol and sugar. 7- Stay away from sexual stimulants and do not use any type except after consulting the doctor. Proper eating after stenting The most important part of treatment after stenting is to follow a healthy diet that is beneficial for the health of the heart and arteries, which includes: 1- Fruits and vegetables rich in vitamins, minerals and fiber. 2- Whole grains such as oatmeal, brown bread, and brown rice are foods rich in fiber and help lower cholesterol. 3- Increase white meat such as fish and poultry and reduce red meat. 4- Legumes such as lentils, beans and beans because they are foods rich in fiber that are beneficial for heart health. 5- Avoid hydrogenated oils and increase natural oils such as olive oil, peanuts or sesame. 6- Nuts rich in antioxidants such as omega 3 and other vitamins and minerals that are beneficial for the health of the heart and arteries.
