What is idolatry and why does man have a natural inclination toward it? I believe we have reached a point where the subject of idolatry demands a thorough and rigorous investigation. I believe idolatry is near us, around us, and in our midst in a horrendous measure. In short, the Second Commandment is in jeopardy. “The plague has begun” (Numbers 16:46). I feel that the subject presents many difficulties. Our lot is cast in an age when truth is in constant danger of being sacrificed for the sake of supposed tolerance, charity, and peace…the truth about idolatry is, in the highest sense, the truth for these times.
