Vice President Gibran Rakabuming, accompanied by the Minister of Primary and Secondary Education Abdul Mu'ti and the Chairperson of Commission X of the Indonesian House of Representatives (DPR RI) Hetifah Sjaifudian, this morning opened the Joint Coordination Meeting of Education Policy Evaluation with Heads of Education Offices from all over Indonesia held at the Sheraton Grand Jakarta Gandaria City Hotel, Jl. Sultan Iskandar Muda, South Jakarta. On this occasion, the Vice President highlighted a number of key issues that he said always recur every year, such as zoning policies, including teacher protection and efforts to create a safe and comfortable school environment. The Vice President emphasized the importance of evaluating the sustainability of zoning policies, which although beneficial, still face challenges related to the uneven distribution of teachers and educational facilities. "Zoning, once again, is a good program, but it may not be able to be implemented in all regions," he said. Furthermore, the Vice President emphasized the crucial role of teacher protection and the need for special attention for children who are victims of violence in schools. "Schools must be a safe and comfortable place for teachers and students. There should be no more cases of violence, bullying cases. There should be no more cases of criminalization of teachers," he said. In addition, the Vice President supports early coding and math learning programs to prepare Indonesia's young generation as future technology experts. Concluding his direction, the Vice President asked the Heads of Education Offices to oversee the implementation of President Prabowo Subianto's strategic program, namely Free Nutritious Meals (MBG). "Please oversee this program well, oversee our children well," he requested. This coordination meeting was initiated to strengthen the synergy between the central government and regional governments in improving the quality and equality of education in the country. The New Student Admissions Policy (PPDB) and the recruitment of ASN PPPK Teachers were raised as the main topics of discussion because both have a crucial role in ensuring fair and quality access to education. However, the implementation of these two policies still faces challenges, such as limited infrastructure, uneven capacity, and less than optimal distribution of teachers in various regions. Through activities involving all Heads of Education Offices in provinces, districts, and cities, it is hoped that the solutions formulated will be more effective and relevant according to the needs of each region.
