Subscribe to ACTION 24: https://bit.ly/3lxxQQv It has been 15 years since the death of the blessed Archbishop Christodoulos. Archbishop Christodoulos played a catalytic role in the extroversion of the Church of Greece. Everyone will remember him for his fiery speech and his excellent relationship with young people. He was popular, charismatic, with an excellent communication policy. In the first years of his Archbishopric tenure, blessed Christodoulos was the first topic in the news bulletins. Television cameras followed him everywhere. The reporters were eager for a statement from him. He told jokes, visited all the universities and high schools of Athens, captivating the young people. Students welcomed him with the slogan "Christodoule se pame". "I'll take you too" he answered them. He spoke their language, used their... code, shared their anxieties, while the phrase "Come to church as you are in jeans and an earring" will forever remain in church history. Two major events marked the first years of his pastorate: the conflict with the Simitis government over the inscription of religion on identity cards and the crisis with the Ecumenical Patriarchate. People who lived next to the blessed Archbishop spoke in Action Story. We traveled to Volos and talked with Archimandrite Epifanios Oikonomou who was a close associate of the Blessed and the then press representative of the Archdiocese. He reveals to us unknown aspects of his life, his weaknesses and how he dealt with the important issues with which he had come into conflict with the government.
