TOMORROW 21/04.09 ARTISTS UNITED FOR LABRUZZO April 21, 2009 was an important day for Italian music: fifty-six of the greatest artists in our recent, present and future history met at the Officine Meccaniche in Milan to record a song all together, Tomorrow 21/04.09. The aim of Tomorrow 21/04.09 - Artists united for Abruzzo is to raise funds to support the reconstruction, consolidation and restoration of the Alfredo Casella Conservatory and the Teatro Stabile d'Abruzzo in L'Aquila. The first phone call was between Lorenzo and Giuliano from Negramaro, within a few minutes Mauro Pagani joined and in a few hours the network expanded to immediately include Caterina Caselli and Marco Sorrentino, singers, musicians, bands, managers, record producers, technicians and all the people who made this project possible. In less than a week, Italian music, through unprecedented word of mouth, has made an appointment with just one rule: to be physically all together in the same place - the Officine Meccaniche studios in Milan by Mauro Pagani - at the same times, without using the internet or technology. To share a real participation, to document the true emotion that everyone experienced in those hours, because sometimes you need to come together, to make your time available to a cause that goes beyond the artistic needs of everyday life. The role of music has always had a value in the important passages of a community, music resonates in moments of difficulty and in moments of celebration, it serves to process emotions and give them a place. In our country there has never been an initiative with such a large and varied cast, composed of artists so well-known yet so different in style, experience, age and musical genre. The result is surprising, exciting and homogeneous. The song expresses the best of our musical kaleidoscope, with its load of humanity, talent and with something more unique. Each singer participated with his story, each intervention, even of a single word, manages to open a world. Each one lowered his defenses and laid himself bare with his voice. DOMANI 21/04.09 is a historic project, of great social impact, because for the first time the artists all together, with management and record companies, have demonstrated that there is a compact scene when the urgency requires it, a musical scene that lives as tradition and legacy, but also as a vital presence in society and as a future projection.
