TW: This program contains content that may be disturbing to children, young people and sensitive viewers. For two long years, between 2020 and 2022, during the fighting between the Tigray and the armies of Ethiopia and Eritrea, their soldiers used a silent and insidious weapon: they raped at least 120,000 women. Two women are now fighting to help these victims and finally give them a voice. At least 120,000 women are said to have been raped in the Tigray region by soldiers of the armies of Ethiopia and Eritrea in the first eight months of the conflict alone - one in ten women there. These crimes were committed in complete silence, behind closed doors and far from the eyes of the international community. Two women speak out about the monstrosity in order to finally help them all. One is a well-known musician from the Tigray region, the other works as a nurse in the public hospital there. Like all Tigray, a minority that represents 6% of the Ethiopian population, their lives changed overnight with the start of the war in November 2020. Today, they are fighting, each one individually, to help the thousands of women around them who have been sexually abused by soldiers and militiamen: they are concerned about healing their wounds, but also about psychological help against the rejection by families, men, society as a whole, and also about the search for justice... #tigray #rape #weapon Video available until 12/11/2027 Link to the media library: https://www.arte.tv/de/videos/120675-...
