The streets of the historic center of Genoa - via Carabaghe Those who know Genoa and its historic center know that the names of the streets are often curious and interesting and almost always hide some historical twist that can help us get to know Genoa and its secrets better. Coming down from via di Porta Soprana there is a little alley that perhaps you have never noticed. It is called vico delle Carabaghe but once it was called Vico delle Calabraghe, a curious name, isn't it? But why this name? We haven't found it, but it seems that once there was a sign or rather a curious road sign saying "no children allowed". The reason? There must have been a brothel here, in short, a brothel, hence the indecent original name of the alley ... delle Calabraghe, a place to keep children away from. In reality the origin of the name is much less malicious and has nothing to do with hypothetical pants to be lowered, but rather with the defense of the nearby Porta Soprana, in fact the CALABRAGE were war machines, a kind of catapults to throw small stones that were stored right in this alley so close to Porta Soprana. And so vico della Carabaghe is also open to children, who knows how many will have walked along it to reach via dei Castagna, which is not known for chestnuts but for the chocolate of that laboratory that from 1866 to today still uses vintage machinery and molds and is a source of pride for Genoa. In the second part of the video we will quickly cross a good part of the historic center to get from Porta Soprana to Porta Sottana perhaps less known and visible because it leans against the houses, and better known as Porta dei Vacca. You will see via di Canneto il Lungo, via di Canneto il Curto, piazza Banchi, via San Luca, via di Fossatello and the famous via del Campo with piazza del Campo. What you will see is not only a new format but also a technical experiment regarding the creation of the video: in addition to the usual traditional cameras, we have in fact used an INTRA 360 X One, a latest-generation action cam that has the particularity of filming at 360°, that is, everything around us at a resolution of 5.7K. This camera allows us to have an incredible wealth and quantity of images, certainly of a lower quality than traditional filming but which allows us to truly take you with us during our filming. Often the action is held by the presenter herself who films herself and what is around her. We do not know if this will be the future of videos but when the resolution of this type of camera reaches 12K or more, the potential will become enormous, especially for documentary-type videos. This video was shot in August 2019 using a Panasonic GH5 for traditional shooting and an insta360 one x for immersive 360ç shooting subsequently edited together.
