Acute prostatitis: It develops suddenly and is severe. It is rare, it is a disease of the elderly. There is high fever, sweating, shivering, weakness, difficulty urinating and inability to urinate. It is the least common type of prostatitis. Chronic prostatitis: It progresses insidiously, is very mild. It is a disease of young people. It is the most common form of prostatitis. Chronic prostatitis is a disease of young people and young adult men who have passed puberty. The most common form of prostate diseases in the elderly is benign prostatic hyperplasia, which we call BPH, and prostate cancer. Prostatitis is not a contagious disease. It is not transmitted from someone else and is not a sexually transmitted disease. A man with prostatitis does not transmit this disease to his partner. Bacteria may enter the prostate as a result of the urine moving into the prostate with reverse flow from previous urinary tract infections. In addition, without a microbial agent, urine leaks into the prostate with this reflux and the inflammatory process starts here without microbes due to the chemical effect of urine. And in fact, there are no microbes in 90% of chronic prostatitis cases. Prostatitis is the 3rd most common disease of the prostate after BPH and prostate cancer.
