V.” are the oldest traditional corps in Cologne. They see themselves as the descendants of the city soldiers and have been an integral part of the organized carnival in Cologne since 1823. The film accompanies the sparks in and outside of the session, asks about the club structure, initiation rituals and event logistics, but also asks about the self-image of the well over 400 members, "life after Ash Wednesday" and the "Kölsche Siel". ▬ Information about us ▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬ The LVR Institute for Regional Studies and Regional History For almost five decades we have been recording everyday life in the Rhineland in moving images. We are now the only scientists in Germany to use the medium of film specifically for research and presentation. The approximately 260 film productions made in recent decades are irreplaceable documents of lost knowledge about agriculture, crafts, industrial work and the diverse regional customs. Today we use the medium of film primarily to document current processes of change and to accompany people in the Rhineland in their lives. This results in films on intercultural phenomena and problems, on changes in the world of work, on new forms of social coexistence and on dealing with rituals, customs and traditions. All film documentaries from the LVR Institute for Regional Studies and Regional History are also available on DVD. You can find the complete film catalogue on our homepage under Everyday Culture - Films. ► https://rheinische-landeskunde.lvr.de
