🌍 Located 5 km from Saint-Omer (in Pas-de-Calais), La Coupole is one of the most impressive historical monuments of the Second World War in Europe. The first German underground base for launching V2 rockets, the site was rehabilitated in 1997 into a History and Memory Center. Since 2012, it has had a Resource and Research Center as well as a 3D Planetarium, completing its scientific part. To visit La Coupole, all the details are on their website: https://lacoupole-france.com/ and you can book your tickets directly online (which I recommend for the planetarium) My little tips if you are visiting the North of France, and you want to discover La Coupole: The site is not in the city center (a secret base...while you're at it :) ), but close. So plan a car, or take advantage of a Mouvéo shuttle between the Saint-Omer train station and La Coupole. The visit to the site, having done it several times, will take you between 2 and 3 hours. I therefore recommend that you BOOK a session for the planetarium in advance, and depending on the time, plan the visit before or after this discovery at the planetarium. If the weather is nice, a picnic area is available outside the site, and if it rains, don't worry about the visit, almost all of it is done in the tunnels and under the dome! If you want to take the opportunity to discover the region and stay a few days, still in the theme of the Second World War, you have the beaches of Dunkirk (operation Dynamo!) to discover, or if you want to reconnect with nature, a boat trip in the marshes of Saint Omer is a must in the area (it's magnificent!) Once again, as announced in the video, it was a real PLEASURE to produce this show, written and edited by Thomas, and filmed on site with the team of La Coupole (A special thank you to Mélanie and Victor). A big thank you to La Coupole for their warm welcome on this exceptional site that I have visited regularly since my childhood, as well as for their support on this video (the video is sponsored by La Coupole). Earthlings, I really recommend that you come and discover this UNIQUE place where History and Space mix to form a duo that you will remember for a long time! https://lacoupole-france.com/ ------------------------- If you would like to support the Journal de l'Espace: 👕 The Shop................►https://shop.journal-espace.fr/ 😎 Tipeee.........................►https://fr.tipeee.com/le-journal-de-l... ------------------------- 🌟 This show was produced by: 🌟 Editing: Thomas Trapier - alouetteimage.com Editing: Thomas Trapier - alouetteimage.com Voice: Quentin Leicht Video Produced in collaboration with La Coupole, a History and Memory center. https://lacoupole-france.com/ ------------------------- 📰 On the program today: 00:00 - Introduction, La Coupole: a place full of history 00:58 - The VfR gang, The happy arsonists of Sunday 03:43 - Experiments that reach the ears of the army 05:31 - Rockets that are no longer peaceful...the beginnings of the V2 08:24 - Transferring the production of V2s to a more discreet place: Dora 09:40 - The V2, the first weapon of retaliation against...civilians 10:42 - Building bases as close as possible to England 11:47 - Hitler's SECRET Bunker in the North of France: La Coupole 15:17 - La Coupole today, a place that has become a museum and historical monument! 16:51 - The most modern planetarium in the world 17:16 - The recovery of Nazi scientists...and Von Braun 18:38 - The strange paradox of the Space Race ------------------------- FIND ME ON: 📲The Blog....................►https://www.journal-espace.fr 📷Instagram...............► / journal.espace 🔥Twitter......................► / journal_espace 💬Discord...................► / discord 🚀Facebook................► / journal.espace ------------------------- 🌍 LE JDE Le Journal de l'Espace is a general space information and culture channel for all audiences, including popular science.
