The Powerful Chaplet of the 7 Sorrows of Our Lady Beginning: D- In the name of the Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit. R- Amen! D- We praise you, Lord, and we bless you! A- Because you associated the Virgin Mary with the work of salvation. D- We contemplate your Pains, O Mother of God! A- And we follow you on the path of faith! O God and my Lord, I offer You this Chaplet for Your glory, so that it may serve to honor Your Holy Mother, the Virgin Mary, and so that I can share her and meditate on her sufferings. Humbly I ask you, grant me true repentance of my sins and give me the wisdom and humility necessary so that I may receive all the indulgences granted by these prayers. 1st Sorrow - Prophecy of Simeon Simeon blessed them and said to Mary, his mother: Behold, this child is destined to be the occasion of the fall and rise of many in Israel and a sign of contradiction. As for you, a sword will pierce your soul (Luke 2:34-35). 1 Our Father; 7 Hail Marys 2nd Sorrow - Flight to Egypt The angel of the Lord appeared to Joseph in a dream and said: Get up, take the boy and his mother, flee to Egypt and stay there until I warn you. For Herod will look for the boy to kill him. Getting up, Joseph took the boy and his mother and left for Egypt (Mt 2:13-14). 1 Our Father; 7 Hail Marys 3rd Sorrow - Mary searches for Jesus in Jerusalem After the days of the Easter festival were over, when they returned, the boy Jesus remained in Jerusalem, without his parents noticing him. Thinking he was in the caravan, they walked a day's journey and looked for him among relatives and acquaintances. And when they didn't find him, they returned to Jerusalem looking for him (Luke 2:43b-45). 1 Our Father; 7 Hail Marys 4th Sorrow - Jesus meets His Mother on the road to Calvary When leading Jesus, they used a certain Simon of Cyrene, who was coming from the countryside, and tasked him with carrying the cross behind Jesus. A large crowd of people and women followed him, beating their breasts and lamenting him (Luke 23:26-27). 1 Our Father; 7 Hail Marys 5th Sorrow - Mary at the foot of the Cross of Jesus Next to the cross of Jesus stood his Mother, his Mother's sister, Mary of Cleophas, and Mary Magdalene. Seeing his Mother and, close to her, the disciple whom he loved, Jesus said to his mother: Woman, behold your son! Then he said to the disciple: Behold your Mother! (John 19:15-27a). 1 Our Father; 7 Hail Marys 6th Sorrow - Mary receives Jesus taken down from the Cross When the afternoon arrived, because it was the day of Preparation, that is, the day before Saturday, Joseph of Arimathea came, entered Pilate's house and asked for the body of Jesus. Pilate then gave the corpse to Joseph, who removed the body from the cross (Mc 15,42) 1 Our Father; 7 Hail Marys 7th Sorrow - Mary lays Jesus in the Tomb The disciples took the body of Jesus and wrapped it in linen strips with scents, as is the burial custom of the Jews. There was a garden near the place where he was crucified, and in the garden a new tomb where no one had yet been laid.
