Velikiy Lypovets is one of the most remote from civilization mountain villages of the Putyl district of the Bukovyna Hutsul region. We go to this village from Dovgopill, Ivano-Frankivsk region, cross 3 villages to it on foot, through Kostinets, where there was once even an adult school, pass Plyta, where we have already been from other sides, and pass the outskirts of the Daraduda hamlet, where we are still we will definitely come. It is from the Daradudas that the family of black molfars headed by Prokiprm Daraduda. In this video, we took 3 amazing interviews with people who have lived their whole lives high in the mountains. Life in the hills is much harder than in the lowlands, especially when there is 2 meters of snow, although now the winters are not the same. The most impressive was the last interview already in Veliky Lipovka, where the woman shared with us the stories told to her by her father, who served in the Austrian army and participated in the 1st World War. She shared with us the prophecy he told her before he died. We record every interview in order to preserve a part of Ukrainian folklore at least in our films. That folklore that fades into oblivion! After the last reform of the OTG in 2020, the Putyl district was joined to Vyzhnytskyi. District Once there were 80 villages here, where many people lived and each of them had at least one school. Well, now there are only 50 settlements left on the map, but some of them are already ghost villages, such as Vipchyna. According to the last census of 2012, the population of Putyl district is 25,800. I can't imagine how much fewer residents have become in this area after a full-scale invasion. In the distant 18th century, when Oleksa Dovbush lived and walked these lands, the mountainous part of Bukovyna was called Russian Kimpolung. (translated from Romanian Dovge Pole) therefore, later the largest village of the district was named in honor of the entire region. It was from Dovgopill that we started today's expedition. A hundred years earlier, in the 17th century, the Moldavian prince Vasyl Lupul (Vasile Lupu) gave local residents a certificate of ownership of these lands. It was Vasyl Lupu who married his daughter Rozanda to the son of Bohdan Khmelnytsky - Tymosh! It was Vasyl Lupu who dragged Tymosh Khmelnytskyi into the war for Bukovina against the Transylvanian prince Yuri II Rakotsi and the Wallachian lord Matei Besarab, who, having killed Tymosh Khmelnytskyi, also expelled Vasyl Lupul from these lands, appointing his supporter George Stefan to rule the Moldavian principality. This expedition to the Putylshchyna took place on April 8, 2024, and as you can see, Skupova Mountain in the distance is still covered with snow, although there are only 1580, and the whole of Montenegro is still covered with 2 meters of snow. Unfortunately, most of the ancient Hutsul colorful huts that are on our way have been empty for a long time... Putylshchyna needs a new life, young people have been leaving here for a long time and the villages will continue to disappear at this rate... Write in the comments how you see the further possible development of the region. It is hard to believe, but both in Veliky Lipovka and in the village of Daraduda, a family with at least 8 children lives in every second house, and there are families with 13 and 14 children. We recently passed 3 houses in a row, each with 10 children. However, later the children grow up and, usually, leave these lands in search of a better fate... Hutsuls are a unique ethnic group, divided by 3 countries and 3 regions in our country. Bukovyna Hutsul region is unique and special in its own way. I am sure that many of the houses featured in our video will disappear in 10 years and new houses will be built in their place, but the memory of them will remain in our film.
