On 23 November 1944, all hell broke loose at two shipyards in Oslo. The whole city is awakened by many violent explosions. For several weeks, the Pelle group has smuggled hundreds of kilograms of dynamite into Akers and Nyland's mechanical workshop. Six large ships, a floating dock, three quays and a 100-tonne crane are destroyed during the violent attack. This is the story of the biggest ship sabotage that happened in Norway during the Second World War. After the war, Max Manus was given credit for this action in a report in Film Avisen, which has caused great confusion to this day. The action that took place at Akers mechanical workshop and Nyland Mechanical workshop was carried out by the Pelle group, which is well documented. Max Manus carried out several actions at the Amerikalinjens quay in Oslo, among other things he sank the Danube, see this video blog: • The sabotage action against the Danube FESTNINGSVERK MILITARY HISTORY ON SOCIAL MEDIA: WEB: http://festningsverk.no FACEBOOK PAGE: / festningsverk.no FACEBOOK GROUP: / bilderfranorge FACEBOOK: / 460485847982579 INSTAGRAM: / norwegian_ww2_photos INSTAGRAM: / fortress SHIP SABOTAGE ON 23 NOVEMBER 1944 During the war, ship repairs were very important to the Germans, this applied to both civilian and military vessels. ABOUT THE PELLE GROUP The Pelle group, an independent sabotage group in the Oslo area during the war. It was led by Ragnar Sollie (1912–87), and was named after one of his aliases, "Pelle". He was a member of the NKP, but many of the members of the group were not communists. It aimed its activities primarily at workshops, ships and German warehouses. It was established in the spring/summer of 1944, and was therefore active for a year. Alongside the Oslo gang and Aks 13000, both associated with Milorg, it was among the most important sabotage groups in Oslo in the last year of the war, when the Osvald group had ceased its activities. Among the most important acts of sabotage was a coordinated act of sabotage against Akers mech. Verksted and Nylands Verksted on the night of 24 November 1944. The group had about 100 members and carried out 18 acts of sabotage in the autumn of 1944. At Tingvallakaia on Aker brygge, where the Nesodd boats dock, in 2013 a monument was erected in memory of the Pelle group, carried out by Kirsten Kokkin, who is the daughter of Sverre Kokkin, one of the members of the group.
