The Adeptus Ministorum, or Ecclesiarchy, is the religious institution of the Imperium, dedicated to the worship of the God-Emperor. It controls and guides the faith of billions of souls across the galaxy, ensuring the spiritual unity of the Imperium and actively combating heresy and corruption. The Ministorum is structured into a complex hierarchy of Cardinals, Confessors and Preachers, each with a specific role in spreading the Imperial Creed. Among its branches, the Schola Progenium trains the orphans of the Imperium's heroes, who then become Commissars, Priests or Sisters of Battle, the latter being the armed wings of the Ecclesiarchy. The Missionarus Galaxia is responsible for spreading the Imperial faith in newly discovered or reconquered systems, often at the forefront of converting or exterminating heretics and xenos. The Clergy Frateris and Militia Frateris are military organizations composed of the faithful who support the actions of the Ecclesiarchy in the field. The Ecclesiarchy is also closely monitored by the forces of the Inquisition to prevent internal corruption and schisms. Historically, the Ecclesiarchy has undergone significant reforms, particularly after the Age of Apostasy, to prevent excesses of power. These reforms established strict limits on the Church's influence, including prohibiting the possession of direct military forces, except in forms such as the Sisters of Battle.
