About It was revealed during the Medina period. It has 120 verses. The surah takes its name from the word “maida” (table) in the 112th and 114th verses. The main subjects of the surah are the fulfillment of promises, the Israelites not keeping their promises, the Christians’ false beliefs, worldliness and corruption, and some instructions, warnings and religious provisions for Muslims. It is the 5th surah in the order of revelation in the Mushaf and the 112th surah in the order of revelation. It was revealed in Medina after the Surah of the Conquest and before the Repentance. Although there are narrations that it was revealed all at once during the Medina period and that it was one of the last surahs revealed (Tirmidhi, “Tefsir”, 6/20; Musnad, II, 176; VI, 455; Hakim, Mustedrek, II, 311), Ateş argues that these narrations do not comply with the information about the subjects contained in the surah or the reason for the revelation of the verses in the surah. According to Ateş, the surah was revealed gradually over a long period of time during the Medina period, but since it was arranged towards the end of the Prophet’s life, it was thought that it was revealed all at once and these narrations emerged (II, 448). When the reasons given are examined, it is understood that this view is more accurate. In terms of its subject matter and content, it is the continuation of the surah an-Nisa. Because the false beliefs, attitudes and behaviors of Jews and Christians mentioned in the last section of the Surah An-Nisa are also dealt with in this Surah and important explanations are made about them. Apart from this, religious and legal issues such as loyalty to contracts, measure in helping each other, halal and haram foods, hunting and rules on hunting, the irrelevance of some pre-Islamic customs regarding animals, the permissibility of eating the slaughtered by the People of the Book and marrying their women; rules regarding ablution, ghusl, tayammum, cleanliness and the obligations of hajj; the punishment for theft, highway robbery and corruption in the country, the necessity of jihad, people treating each other kindly, being truthful and just in their actions and intentions, the atonement of oaths, wills, the evil of apostasy, social and moral relations, and the prohibition of alcohol and gambling are discussed. In addition to these, the sura contains stories from which to draw advice and lessons. These are the story of the two sons of Hz. Adam and sections from the life stories of Hz. Moses and Hz. Jesus. The sura also mentions states in the afterlife. It is narrated that Abdullah b. Amr b. As said, “The Surah Al-Ma’idah was revealed to the Hz. Prophet while he was riding his mount. (Because of his state of mind at that time) the mount could not carry him, so the Hz. Prophet got off his mount.” (Musnad, II, 176). According to another narration supporting those who believe that the sura was revealed all at once, Asma bint Yazid said, “I was holding the halter of the Hz. Prophet’s camel, Adba, when the entire Surah Al-Ma’idah was revealed to the Hz. Prophet. The camel's legs were almost broken from the weight of the surah” (Musnad, VI, 455). #maidasurasi #surahmaidah #quran #blessing #sustenance #quran #discover Surah Maidah Listen to Surah Maidah Read Surah Maidah Learn Surah Maidah Read for blessing Surah Maidah for peace Listen to Surah Maidah on Saturday Listen to the Quran on Saturday Listen to Surah Maidah Listen to read Surah Maidah listen to Surah Maidah for blessing Quran Prayer Discover Saturday Recitation Magnificent recitation
