Webinar held on October 25, 2017 on the Deinstitutionalization of Mental Health, with psychologist Ludmilla Castro Malta. Summary: Law 10216 brought to the health scenario a new proposal for the care of people with mental suffering. Before the law that proposed the Psychiatric Reform, the forms of care were limited to hospitalization in psychiatric hospitals and some alternative initiatives in private institutions; thus, care at that time was known as 'hospitalocentric'. In many mental hospitals, there was neglect and lack of assistance to patients who felt removed from their lives, their daily lives and the possibilities of restructuring themselves among others and things. Since the law proposed the treatment of people in the territory, services were created to replace hospitalizations, initiating the process of deinstitutionalization. This process consists of taking people institutionalized in psychiatric hospitals to care in the midst of society. In this webinar we will talk about how CAPS, SRTs, UAs, among other devices created from Law 10216, have been worked on to become tools for deinstitutionalization.
