This old house in an alley in downtown Wonju, Gangwon-do, feels like your grandmother's house in the countryside. It is the old restaurant of the old couple Kang Young-soo and Ahn Sang-gi. The old couple's restaurant is always packed with customers because of the taste of gomtang that you can eat every day without getting tired of it and the taste of dried pumpkin noodles that you can't figure out the secret recipe for even if you try to make it at home. They say that they come back not only for the taste but also for the affection that comes from the old house. The old couple came down to downtown Wonju from the mountains of Hoengseong, Gangwon-do about 40 years ago in search of a way to make a living. The grandmother, who has a good cooking skill, opened a gomtang restaurant in one corner of the house, but after the grandfather was seriously injured while logging a few years ago, the couple started running the restaurant together. The yard is full of dried peppers that the grandfather grew and dried. They carry the chili powder on their shoulders to a nearby mill to make the food, and they say that they grow the seasonings they use in their restaurant themselves. The old couple, who start their day by filling a basket with the vegetables that will be used that day in the garden every morning, boil ox head to make a rich gomtang, and fry freshly picked pumpkin to make dried pumpkin noodles as a garnish for the noodles, and the secret to the taste is love and sincerity.
