Gariwangsan is a high mountain boasting an elevation of 1,561m, the 9th highest mountain in Korea, and its massive mountain ridge and dense primeval forest fully demonstrate its mountainous appearance. It is the second highest mountain in Jeongseong-gun, Gangwon-do, after Hambaeksan, and the representative mountaineering courses are the Recreational Forest Course and the Janggumoki Course. In particular, the Janggumoki Course is popular as a summer hiking course that follows the mysterious and beautiful path of the moss valley and moss waterfall. The summit of Mt. Gariwang is a wide grassland with magnificent and refreshing ridges spread out in all directions without any obstructions. I also enjoyed this hike very much. However, the hike took longer than other hikes. We started at 9:45 AM after having breakfast at the entrance, but we stayed a long time after passing through Moss Valley, so we arrived at Janggu Mok Forest Road around 12:50 PM. After using it for lunch for about 30 minutes, we arrived at the summit around 3:05 PM. After staying at the summit for 30 minutes, we started descending and finished around 5:15 PM.
