In this part of the biblical story of David and Goliath, David, a young shepherd, faces the giant Philistine warrior Goliath. David tells Goliath that he does not challenge him with swords or spears, but in the name of the God of Israel. He claims that the living and powerful God will back him up in battle. David declares that God will deliver him into his hands and that the entire assembly will know that there is a God in Israel. Furthermore, David points out that traditional weaponry is not necessary for victory, since God is the one who decides the outcome of the battle. These verses show David's courage and faith in facing the giant Goliath, trusting in God's power and protection rather than depending on human strength.
