The Bhagavata Purana (Sanskrit: भागवतपुराण), also known as the Srimad-Bhagavatam or simply the Bhagavatam, is one of the eighteen main Puranas. It contains descriptions of various avatars who descended into the material world at different times, as well as extensive information on Hindu philosophy, metaphysics and cosmology. It narrates the historical development of the Universe, the paths of self-knowledge and liberation. For over 1,000 years, the Bhagavata Purana has been the main sacred text of various sects of Krishnaism, where it is considered the fourth element in the threefold canon of fundamental texts of theistic Vedanta. According to the Bhagavata Purana itself, it contains the essence of all the Vedas and is a commentary by the Vedic sage Vyasa on the Vedanta Sutras. The Bhagavata Purana consists of 18,000 verses divided into 332 chapters consisting of 12 songs (skandhas). The first song lists the main avatars of Vishnu, and the following ones contain a detailed description of them. The 10th and 11th songs describe in detail the history of Krishna's appearance, his activities in Vrindavan and instructions to his devotees (such as the Uddhava Gita). The last, 12th song, predicts the events of the present historical era of Kali Yuga and the coming cataclysms on Earth. ❤ SUPPORT the ALLAL MING channel, Sber card 2202200484190259 (A.I.Zh).
