VIII Men's Siege of Jasna Góra - Spiritual Battle and Prayer On September 28, 2024, Jasna Góra once again became the site of a unique spiritual pilgrimage - the VIII Men's Siege. The event gathered thousands of men who responded to the call for prayer, reflection and spiritual strengthening before the upcoming Jubilee of 2025. The entire meeting was a response to the papal call for the Year of Prayer and deep spiritual preparation. Spiritual Battle in Prayer The meeting began with a workshop in the Father Kordecki Hall, where the men gathered at Jasna Góra had the opportunity to take part in deep reflections on the prayer "Our Father". The teachings of Bishop Waldemar Musioł and Father Przemysław Kwiatkowski were the main point of spiritual formation. This prayer, as the speakers emphasized, is not only a formula, but a program of Christian life, which Jesus fulfilled through his teaching and actions. Bishop Waldemar reminded us that the prayer "Our Father" is not just words, but a summary of the entire mission of Jesus, which is to become the daily program of life of every Christian. Testimonies of Spiritual Strengthening One of the most moving elements of the meeting were the testimonies of men who shared their experiences of conversion and change of heart. In his testimony, Piotr Szwędrowski told about a personal encounter with God's mercy that changed his life. The Knights of Columbus shared stories of their initiatives and spiritual commitment, emphasizing how prayer and brotherhood changed their approach to daily duties. Sebastian Stelmach moved the audience by sharing his experience of conversion, which was the result of deep commitment to prayer and service to the Church. His story showed how God works in the life of everyone who opens themselves to His grace and trust. Men's Adoration and the Eucharist The central point of the day was the Eucharist, preceded by adoration of the Blessed Sacrament and a prayer of adoration. This is the moment when the men gathered at Jasna Góra raised their hands in prayer, like Moses during the battle with the Amalekites, which was recalled by Fr. Marcin Ciechanowski during his welcome. Father Marcin emphasized that prayer with raised hands is an act of intercession and spiritual struggle, which has great power. In the evening, after the Holy Mass, there was also "Male Adoration" - remaining in God's presence. This prayer, full of singing and reflection, united the men in thanksgiving for the gift of the meeting and for God's care for their families and spiritual life. Conclusions and Message The 8th Men's Siege at Jasna Góra was not only a spiritual event, but also a manifestation of the strength of the community of men who want to live in accordance with Christian faith and values. The speakers repeatedly emphasized that prayer is the foundation of male spiritual life, and its strength lies in faithfully remaining in God's presence. Bishop Waldemar Musioł reminded us that prayer is also an antidote to the sins of envy, greed and scandal, which destroy interpersonal relationships and distance us from God. The meeting ended with the Jasna Góra Appeal and the Jasna Góra Men's Vows, during which the participants committed themselves to be faithful to Christ and Mary and to lead their families in the spirit of Christian values. Interesting Facts and Reflections One of the most interesting moments was the presence of Przemysław Babiarz, who, as a special guest, shared his reflections on the role of prayer in professional and personal life. His testimony about how faith helps him maintain balance in everyday life was an inspiration for many participants. To sum up, the 8th Men's Siege of Jasna Góra was an event that not only strengthened the participants spiritually, but also inspired them to continue the spiritual fight for their faith, families and communities.
