The sins that I thought were small like sand stand before a huge monster like a mountain, and hell, which I knew like a dream in my sleep, opens its ugly mouth and tries to swallow me. Just seeing a passing priest makes my conscience whine and I avoid it, but how much do I tremble as I kneel alone before the great judgment of the Heavenly Court? How great is my body that looks down on the poor, hungry and naked, like dust, and scatters to dust and soil? A hundred years from now, by this time today, our skeletons will have already rotted away in the ground, and our souls will have already gone to heaven or hell. The word hell is simple, but what will we do if it actually happens to us? When I think about it, doesn’t it make me shiver? When I think about it, doesn’t my whole body tremble? All those souls who fell into the fire of hell, you know that they went there on purpose. After putting it off for a day or two, they were unexpectedly struck by lightning. How is today? The soul that let their guard down went beyond the limit even for that day. God, who came to visit, judged that day by cutting it with the sword of justice. Every action we take each day goes into the soul and becomes a deposit, becoming punishment in purgatory or hell, or pearls or gold in heaven. Time passes mercilessly. Whether we build up heavenly blessings by doing meritorious deeds or prepare for the afterlife by committing crimes. Time passes mercilessly. So living today is a great blessing. Let’s diligently save up the little things of this world, disguise them as gold or pearls, and diligently deposit them in heaven. When you open your eyes and wake up in the morning, think of that day as your last, and when you lie down at night, prepare for your deathbed. The keys to heaven and hell are in our hands. The keys to our freedom are in our hands now. Choose whether to enter heavenly blessings or to burn in hellfire. Amen.
