His healing power was so strong that he cured even those who would just step over his shadow from serious illnesses. He died as a victim of a plot by Simon Volch, who threw him into the disfavor of Emperor Nero. He was executed by being crucified. Folk customs There are many folk customs associated with Petrovdan. One of them is that on the eve of Petrovdan, the oldest member of the household picks one petrovca ​​flower for everyone in the house. Each flower is assigned to one member of the household and they are stuck in the ground in a place where no one will touch them. On the day of the holiday, before anyone in the household has gotten up, the host goes to look at the flowers - the householder whose flower is standing upright will be healthy, the one whose flower is drooping will be sick, and if someone's flower has wilted, that person will die. There is also a widespread belief that on this day, Saint Peter distributes apples to children in the afterlife, so it is believed that this fruit should not be eaten before St. Peter's Day. Many mothers who have lost children did not eat apples before this holiday because they were afraid that their child would not receive an apple in the afterlife. In the past, people would sprinkle water on their cattle in the morning on this day to keep them healthy, and shepherds would weave wreaths and place them on the cattle's horns. On St. Peter's Day, nothing is done in the fields, especially horses are not harnessed to carts. It is a common custom among Serbs in Vojvodina that until Petrovdan, apples were not allowed to be cut with a knife, nor were they allowed to be thrown at each other, because it was believed that if they did so, a large hail would fall and destroy the crops. In some villages in southern Banat, on Petrovdan, apples are distributed to the nearest neighbors in the morning, for the souls of the deceased, and in some places the apples are taken to church for blessing.
