Meet the Rolls-Royce Spectre! This is Rolls-Royce’s first foray into the world of electric cars, and Mat will soon find out whether swapping the V12 for electric motors was a smart move or not. First, let’s take a look at the exterior. There’s no denying that this is a very big car, but its appearance is relatively simplistic – and we think that’s a good thing, as it helps to emphasise the car’s elegance. Along the side, the true size of the car is revealed, stretching to 18 feet long! The traditional thick centre caps on the feet have been retained, and of course the hand-painted body line running the width of the car. At the front, there’s a huge, 100% metal grille and a set of daytime running lights mounted above the headlights. It looks fantastic! Once inside, the Spectre is every bit as luxurious as any other Rolls. Apart from a single button on the steering wheel, there are soft-touch, high-quality materials throughout the cabin. This is the first Rolls-Royce with fully digital controls and a large infotainment screen, borrowing from BMW’s infotainment system. The cabin is packed with physical buttons and dials, and despite being a three-door car, there’s plenty of room in the back for passengers. The Spectre is equipped with a 102kWh battery with a claimed range of up to 329 miles. It also has two electric motors that produce a combined 577bhp. The car is also very heavy, weighing in at 2,890kg!!! The Spectre starts at £330,000. It may be one of the most luxurious electric vehicles in the world, but can it compete with the power of a V12 Phantom or Wraith?! You’ll have to stay with Mat and find out for yourself!
