In today's video we are going to restore an old Basque competition axe. An axe with a lot of history and use. Based on the stamp, it was probably a competition axe, although we cannot know exactly who owned it or how it was used before, but it was probably an Erviti. The restoration is going to have different parts. First of all, we are going to have to restore the head and it is a process that requires a lot of work if it is done manually as in the video. The sheath has been made by my craftsman, Iker, about whom you will find more information below. And the handle will be made in a way that is not common today, directly from the forest. And like any restored tool, I hope it is effective. The tools and axes are meant to be used. Due to lack of time I was not able to test it in its entirety, but expect to see the axe more often on my channel. I should quickly mention that the final weight of the restored axe with handle and sheath is 2kg. It has been an honour to return this aizkora to its former glory.
