On December 26, 2004, an earthquake measuring 9.1 to 9.3 on the Richter scale followed by a devastating tsunami devastated Aceh and several countries not far from Aceh. The tragedy killed at least 230,000 people. For the survivors who survived the terrible disaster, the 2004 Aceh earthquake and tsunami were dark days where the peak of sadness, loss, and trauma came simultaneously. However, the disaster also brought wisdom. One of them is that the disaster has accelerated peace between the Free Aceh Movement (GAM) and Indonesia, which had been in conflict for approximately 30 years. How are the lives of the survivors, 20 years after the disaster? More can be seen in the BBC News Indonesia documentary entitled 'Para Penyentas'. Video produced by: Dwiki Marta and Heyder Affan.
