Check out our first meeting on Psychoanalysis and the Clinic of Depression with psychoanalyst and writer Maria Rita Kehl. The second meeting will soon be available on the ESPEcast platform: www.especast.com.br ________________________________________________ In this meeting, psychoanalyst and writer Maria Rita Kehl, professor of the Adaptation Module of the ESPE Institute's postgraduate courses, assumes that depression is a contemporary social symptom. Based on experiences and reflections on contact with depressed patients, the lecture will address a topic that, despite being much discussed, is little understood and even less accepted today. To address it, Maria Rita provides an overview of the symbolic place occupied by melancholy, from classical antiquity to the mid-20th century, when Freud brought this signifier from the field of aesthetic representations to that of the psychoanalytic clinic. For her, 'Freud privatized the concept of melancholy; its former place as a social symptom returned under the name of depression.
