This morning at Mo Chit - Let's talk about some dishonest people who have affected others because the Provincial Electricity Authority has announced the cancellation of the installation of a second meter in houses after some people swapped the power to charge EV cars at home. The Provincial Electricity Authority's good intentions in issuing these regulations were to reduce the burden on the public's expenses, but in the end some dishonest people took the meter used for charging EV cars and swapped it for home power. This is a problem, and everyone was affected because Mr. Supachai Ekoun, Governor of the Provincial Electricity Authority, signed an announcement to cancel the regulations for requesting the installation of a second meter or TOU for residential and small business electricity users to charge EV cars, effective from September 1, 2024 onwards. The reason was that some people used electricity through a TOU meter for the wrong purpose by using it at night from 10:00 p.m. to 9:00 a.m. of the following day, which is the period when electricity prices are lowest, resulting in more savings than using a normal meter. However, this is considered a violation of electricity usage and taking advantage of other electricity users. After this announcement comes into effect, electricity users will have to choose one or the other. Between a normal meter and a TOU meter only. But those who have installed a TOU meter can continue to use it. However, if the PEA finds a violation or breach of regulations, the electricity purchase agreement for the second meter must be immediately canceled.
