I have been preparing for this class for a long time. We will trace the gospel that Jesus wanted to convey through the gospels. Why did Jesus volunteer for the crucifixion? What gospel is he trying to convey to us? I have been teaching Judaism and Christianity at the Department of Religious Studies at Seoul National University for 17 years. In particular, as soon as I returned to Korea, I published the work I devoted to, the Aramaic grammar book 'Targum Aramaic Grammar', which was the language Jesus used in the first century, and its translation, 'Targum Onkelos Genesis'. The West has been reading and interpreting the New Testament in Latin and Greek for too long. Jesus and his disciples communicated in Aramaic. Although it no longer exists, the core of the original gospel must have been Aramaic. I plan to retranslate Jesus' words from Greek back into Aramaic, the language of Jesus, and seriously examine the content of the gospel. This is a bold attempt that no one has attempted before. I want to write the 'Gospel Understood in Aramaic' with the mindset of rewriting the 'Gospel' that must emerge anew for the survival of Christianity in the era of de-religionization.
