In this video we explain in detail how to plaster a wall, place plaster protectors and plaster corners. 00:50 Preparing the room Plaster is a type of cement and therefore something you absolutely do not want on your floor. In order to prepare the room properly before you start plastering, it is important to tape off the floor with plaster runner. Also make sure that your power is turned off. Keep a mobile lamp at hand so that you can check that the plasterwork is smooth and even. 01:50 Cleaning the wall Before you start plastering, it is also important to clean the wall properly. You do this with a paint cleaner that is suitable for the surface of your wall. 02:17 Preparing the wall To further prepare the wall, first apply a primer. Primer works as a base layer that ensures better adhesion. Depending on the type of wall you are going to plaster, you need a primer or a base coat. Primer is suitable for absorbent surfaces such as plasterboard, plaster blocks and concrete. You use a base coat for aerated concrete, red bricks and sand-lime bricks. 03:14 Applying a corner protector If you have to plaster corners, it is important to use a corner protector, otherwise you will not get a smooth result. It is important that it is level and plumb. You cannot correct this step later if something goes wrong, so take the time to ensure that it is done properly. 05:03 Mixing plaster When the primer is dry, you can start mixing the plaster. You can check the packaging to see how much water and plaster you need. Only start mixing when you are ready to plaster. As soon as you start mixing, the plaster will dry slowly. You want to give yourself as much working time as possible. 05:47 Applying plaster Now it is time to actually apply the plaster. Do not put too much plaster on your board because it will drip off again. Always work from top to bottom and if you are left-handed, start on the right. If you are right-handed, start on the left. This works easiest. 06:19 Straightening Immediately after applying, it is important to start straightening the wall. You can make the wall smooth with straightening strips. Start with the longest strip and do not use too much force, except when you are filling a hole. Always clean your tools thoroughly with water in between. 06:50 Finishing Finishing or leveling is what you do to make the plaster really smooth. You start this when you no longer see fingerprints in the plaster, then it is dry enough. You can put excess plaster back on the wall. 07:18 Knives Now you want to use a spirit level to check that all the plaster is nice and flat. Place the spirit level in various places on the wall. Then you can use spatulas to finish the wall further at the edges. 08:12 Sponging When you can no longer push the plaster in with your fingers, it is time to start sponging. You can finish the wall further with a rotating movement. 08:40 Filling After sponging, a kind of paste is always released. You want to filler this further with a filler knife. This way you get a super smooth end result. Once you have done this, the plastering is finished. But you still have to wait until the plasterwork is dry before you can start painting or wallpapering. 09:33 Plastering a corner Also the corners. You have internal and external corners. When the external corner is sufficiently dry, you can finish the corner with rows. For internal corners, you want to scrape off the excess plaster with a putty knife. 10:53 Overview of the step-by-step plan for plastering a wall --------------------------------------- Welcome to the GAMMA YouTube channel.
