The "Waldhaus Rönnerholz" in a suburb of Kiel is in utter chaos. Neither the owner Uwe, a tiler and former postal worker, nor his son Patrick, a trained car mechanic, have any idea about the restaurant business. The only one with experience in the restaurant business is the trained chef Alex (26), with whom 24-year-old Patrick has been doing his apprenticeship for three months. Uwe can hardly do anything against his wishes. Apprentice Patrick also has little say in Alex's kitchen regime. While Uwe lets everything take its course, his wife Martina tries desperately to keep the money together. Her austerity measures are getting on chef Alex's nerves in particular. The 26-year-old wants to aim high in terms of cuisine, and only the best of the best is allowed. He doesn't seem to notice that he is cooking past the rustic ambience and the guests. The "Waldhaus" is leaderless and is getting deeper and deeper into a thicket of incompetence and debt. The cooking professionals Andi Schweiger, Mike Süsser and Frank Oehler are supposed to show the Waldhaus family the right way through the gastronomy jungle. The three top chefs quickly realize that they have landed in a hopeless labyrinth that clearly ends in a dead end.
