On the first generation PEUGEOT 308 test, the wagon SW version is from 2008 engine 1.6 HDi 90HP, the 5-door/white version is from 2013 engine 1.6 HDi 92HP. Excellent suspension, comfortable enough, which provides excellent handling and predictability of the body regardless of whether it is a hatch or wagon version. Light pedals, solid and smooth gearbox, steering wheel precise enough. Quiet operation of the diesel engine, without vibrations in the interior. Good sound insulation. Excellent front and rear seats, in wagons the second row of seats has three independent seats/a rarity in the class. Large trunk, especially in the station wagon version, which has a more practical and slightly larger trunk than the 5-door version. NEGATIVE POINTS: Door handles creak, luckily not while driving. 1.6 HDi doesn't seem to have enough power at least when you drive it around town, above 2400 revs it's much more lively. Slightly worse rear visibility in the wagon version. PERSONAL IMPRESSION: The 308 made an excellent impression on me, both visually and in terms of driving and general build quality. I have the impression that it is a more comfortable car than the Golf 5 or Golf 6, it seems more serious to me than the Citroen C4, while compared to the Renault Megane III, it is still more attractive in my opinion from the outside and inside, although the Megane has a better gearbox. In my opinion, the Peugeot 308, Renault Megane III and Golf 5 represent the best choice in the class, of course there is also the excellent Audi A3, which is much more expensive but also a little tighter. When it comes to maintenance don't expect anything on it to be cheap, of course that depends on your understanding of expensive/cheap maintenance. Between the five-door version and the wagon version, I would give a slight advantage to the wagon because of the better-designed trunk, if you have one or two children, my advice is the five-door version, however, the rear seats are much more comfortable in this version.
