Personality - what is it anyway? And can it be changed in a targeted manner? Ralph has been studying what research says about it and how personality can be tested in the first place. Personality is everything that distinguishes a person from others in their thinking, feeling and behavior. The "Big Five" of personality are important here: These "Big Five", also called OCEAN, describe five personality dimensions: extraversion, conscientiousness, openness, agreeableness and emotional stability. When you take a scientific personality test, these are exactly the areas that are tested. Below we have linked the test from the University of Leipzig and Ralph tells you in the video how he did in this personality test. The "Big Five" test has been around since the 1980s and similar questions have been around since the 1950s. That is why we know that our personality actually changes throughout our lives. And we also know that our personality is located in the brain! But: why is personality the way it is and how does it change? Both genes and external influences play a role here: for example, workplace, relationships and place of residence. But you can also consciously change your personality in one direction or the other. Ralph explains in the video how you can do this using the three terms WANT, POSSIBLE and HABIT.
