I am sharing with you the two different hostels I stayed at on the island. One is an ecological camp with vegan cuisine, the other is El Pital, known as the Chocolate Factory. 30 thousand people live on Ometepe. Life flows very slowly on the island, where monkeys, horses, pigs and cows are frequently seen. There are two volcanoes on the island in the Great Lake Nicaragua, as well as archaeological remains of ancient civilizations. One of them is Concepcion, which is still active and last erupted in 2007, and the other is Maderas Volcano, which has a crater lake on it. Ometepe literally resembles Turkish: The word Ome means ''2'', and the word Tepe means ''mountain''. Ancient civilizations gave this name. Nahuatl natives lived here. This is a place where you can have a very cheap holiday as a tourist and if you want to live, you will not have much financial difficulty. Life is very cheap and very slow here. People know each other. There are many children on the island and since the island is safe, children play on the streets. We stayed on this beautiful island where we learned the stages of chocolate production for a total of 10 nights. It was very hard to say goodbye to Ometepe Island, where we could not get enough of its food, nature and people. This place has a safe and friendly environment where you can start a family, live, settle and raise children.
