Path of Faith: special program shows the route that leads to the Sanctuary of Aparecida Share this video: • Path of Faith to the Sanctuary of Aparecida... Águas de Prata, in the interior of São Paulo. 200 kilometers from São Paulo, this is the starting point for the pilgrimage of more than 20 thousand people to the National Sanctuary of Aparecida. This is the central point of the Path of Faith, the subject of the Band Vale special, with reporting by Otávio Baldim and Cristiano Buchols. The Path of Faith was created in 2003. The initial process of this project, conceived based on the inspiration of the Way of Saint James in Spain, involved a mobilization among the various municipalities that would make up this new miraculous route to Aparecida. Currently, Águas de Prata is the central point of this story, which has grown to include other municipalities. More than 70 cities connect and are part of the Path of Faith, in the states of São Paulo and Minas Gerais. The longest route starts in São José do Rio Preto and is almost 900 kilometers long. In the state of São Paulo, there are also departures from Franca, Ribeirão Preto, Leme and Borborema. These routes connect through Águas de Prata before entering Minas Gerais. From there, pilgrims travel through more than ten cities and villages in Minas Gerais, passing through São Bento do Sapucaí, entering Minas Gerais again, in Brazópolis, and arriving in Campos do Jordão. Pilgrims can choose to follow the Pindamonhangaba road or enter through Gomeral, in Guaratinguetá, to reach the Sanctuary.
