Salida's 20th anniversary special project "Dialogue with Shinichiro Ikebe" (planning cooperation: Tokyo Concerts) "Part 1: Memories of Director Akira Kurosawa and 'Kagemusha'" is now available. Currently, Ikebe Shinichiro is the only composer who has worked with director Akira Kurosawa, and we asked him about his memories of director Kurosawa and his first collaboration with him, 'Kagemusha'. What was the "strategy" he tried to meet Kurosawa's strict musical demands? ----- Established in 2004 with the production of the CD "Ikeno Sei's Film Music" (4-disc set), Salida will celebrate its 20th anniversary in 2024, and to commemorate this, we have come up with the special project "Dialogue with Shinichiro Ikebe" (planning cooperation: Tokyo Concerts). Although it was uncertain from a scheduling standpoint to talk to composer Shinichiro Ikebe, who will turn 80 in 2023 and is still busily travelling around Japan, a number of unexpected miracles came together to make it happen. ● In connection with Salida CD's latest work "Dialogue between Akira Kurosawa and Fumio Hayasaka," he worked with director Akira Kurosawa on "Kagemusha," "Dreams," "Rhapsody in August," and "Not Yet." ● Japanese composers such as composer Sei Ikeno, who will mark 20 years since his death in 2024, Akira Ifukube, Fumio Hayasaka, Teizo Matsumura, Toru Takemitsu, Yasushi Akutagawa, Toshiro Mayuzumi, Hikaru Hayashi, and his three teachers Yujiro Ikeuchi, Akio Yashiro, and Akira Miyoshi. ● Directors he has worked with include Shohei Imamura, winner of the Palme d'Or at the Cannes Film Festival for "The Ballad of Narayama" and "The Eel," Hayao Miyazaki, whose directorial debut was "Future Boy Conan," and Akio Jissoji, director of "Murder on D Hill" and "Summer of the Ubume." These precious stories will be distributed on the "Salida Channel" in multiple installments for each theme.
