“Let’s hear the word...!” – Opening concert and dance house of the Táncháztalálkozó 2022 Ágnes Herczku: Hozomány – Magyarvista Ágnes Herczku’s folk music album Hozomány – Transylvanian folk music then and now – Visa, released in 2018, was the “first swallow” of a series of publications, which she launched with the intention of making the most beautiful songs accumulated during her collecting trips over more than fifteen years a public domain. The singer has now built her next album Hozomány – Magyarvista around the songs of a single woman from Vista (Kalotaszeg), Gergely Erzsi “Erdei” András Jánosné. This was due not only to the exceptional personality of Erzsi “Erdei”, the richness of her repertoire and the community role she played in the village, but also to their increasingly intimate relationship that has deepened over the years. The album again contains a double CD: on the Collection, a selection of songs recorded years ago, and on the Revival CD, vocal and instrumental recordings of a band composed of the best Hungarian folk musicians can be heard. In addition to the songs of Erzsi “Erdei”, the latter recordings also rely on the collections of Zoltán Kallós, evoking the playing of famous primas such as Ferenc Antal “Árus” from Méra or Ferenc Varga “Csipás” from Bánffyhunyad. This valuable but forward-looking album simultaneously commemorates our village Masters, singers and musicians, and at the same time can serve as an example of how this musical culture can be learned, passed on and very, very loved. Ágnes Herczku was most often guided on her collecting journeys by the help and good advice of Zoltán Kallós, which is why she dedicates the series to his memory. The album is produced by the Fonó Buda Music Hall, with the support of the National Academy of Music and the House of Traditions.
