In the first part of this year's winter test, we spent most of the time on a winter-covered track at Rudskogen. In addition, there has been a lot of driving and charging, the latter with an emphasis on how well the technology for preheating the batteries – before fast or lightning charging – works. We have been "raving" about this functionality for years, and have placed far greater emphasis on this technology than maximum range according to WLTP. With good reason: When the car itself has a good basic range, it is all about making efficient and quick charging stops in the winter cold. The short version? Volkswagen, BMW and Kia show that they are challenging Tesla well on preheating before lightning charging, Hyundai is showing off with the Kona and Polestar 2 had to struggle with -25.
