Complex regional pain syndrome (CRPS), formerly known as Sudeck's disease, is a relatively unknown but not so rare disease. The disease is still little researched, is often diagnosed late, can become chronic and is then difficult to treat. It fundamentally changes the lives of those affected. Severe pain, and often also inability to work and social isolation can be the result. The MEDIENWERKSTATT spoke to those affected from the Nuremberg CRPS self-help group, visited specialized rehabilitation clinics with them and tried to find out more about the disease by talking to doctors.
