After accumulating additional forces for more than a month since the last counterattack, the Russians again decided to attack Ukrainian positions and penetrated 10 kilometers into the western flank. The Ukrainian leadership realized the danger of a possible Russian breakthrough in Kursk and immediately launched counterattacks to destroy the overstretched Russian forces, having already regained more than 5 kilometers. After regaining control of Snagost and the surrounding areas, the element of surprise faded, prompting Russian offensive forces to reinforce for a second wave of counteroffensives. To support this, Russian leadership increased troop levels in the area from 30,000 to 50,000. This significant counteroffensive reinforcement will change the dynamics of fighting in Kursk, where Russian forces now outnumber Ukrainian ones by at least three to one. These reinforcements were made possible by the transfer of troops from Kupiansk, Chasiv Yar, Toretsk, and other areas, weakening Russian offensive efforts there. With plenty of forces now available, the Russians concentrated their offensive in Kursk, moving tank columns along the Korenevo-Sudzha highway toward Zeleni Shlyakh. This settlement is located at a key road junction, crucial for Ukrainian supply routes to the nearby villages of Lyubimovka, Tolstyi Lug and Novoivanovka. Securing the village and the road junction would allow Russian forces to either attack the semi-encircled Ukrainian positions in these villages or force them to retreat. Russian troops chose to advance directly along the highway because the front line in this area was not clearly defined. Ukrainian troops focused their defense primarily on the villages rather than on the open terrain, where no trenches and fortifications had been constructed for permanent defense. Combat footage shows a Russian column of more than 30 armored vehicles advancing unhindered along the highway. They quickly entered Zeleni Shlyakh and took possession of the important road junction. However, this success came at a price, with Ukrainian officers confirming that 15 of the 30 Russian armored vehicles were destroyed during the attack. The full, uncensored footage of the Russian attack can be found on our Telegram channel via the link in the description. To make matters worse, the ten-kilometer Russian advance bypassed the main Ukrainian defenses and reached the rear near the junction where Ukrainian drone operators were stationed. This allowed the Russian stormtroopers to capture nine drone operators who were unaware of the enemy's approach. Ultimately, Russian forces recaptured a large section of the Korenevo-Sudzha highway, as well as Zeleni Shlyakh, Novoivanivka, and half of Leonidovo. Although the Russians only advanced ten kilometers, they stretched their lines to almost thirty kilometers in the process, putting them in a precarious position. This advance created a salient, with Ukrainian troops in Olgovka and Matveevka to the north and Liubymovka to the south, creating a dragon's jaw-shaped trap. From these advantageous positions, Ukrainian troops launched counterattacks aimed at cutting off Russian forces along the highway and attempted to encircle and destroy the assault group at Zeleni Shlyakh by closing the Dragon's Jaw around it. ...
