It was early March and spring was already here. I climbed Mt. Nokogiri in the Uchibo area of Chiba Prefecture. Chiba Prefecture only has mountains under 500m high, and the highest peak, Mt. Atago, is the 47th highest peak in the 47 prefectures, so it was a warm mountain climb with spring weather a little earlier than other prefectures. But it was not an easy climb; there were many ups and downs and it was a fairly hard trail that did not make it any easier. Although we were walking at an altitude of around 200 to 300m, the elevation gain was over 1,000m, so you can see how hard it was. Especially in the latter half, from around Mt. Konokogiri to Mt. Saga, the path became more rugged and the water I had on hand ran out, which was a bit chilly. I learned that even low mountains should not be underestimated. But from Mt. Nokogiri, which also has a tourist side, to Mt. Konokogiri, which has a beautiful view and an athletic feel, to the ridge walk to Mt. Saga, a hidden quarry also known as the Grand Canyon of Chiba, and the view from Mt. Saga... At the end of the hike, we were able to see the Kawazu cherry blossoms in full bloom, so I think it was a much more fulfilling trip than I expected. Highly recommended! I made Tenshinhan while looking at the quarry of Mt. Konokogiri.
