Michal David is one of the biggest hitmakers of the Czech and Czechoslovakian music scene. He started his musical career at the age of sixteen as a promising jazzman, but he soon moved directly to the center of Czechoslovak pop music, i.e. to František Janeček's team, for whose group Kroky he wrote and sang the most famous pop songs of his time. He himself remembers this transition between musical worlds as a chance to start making a living from music and at the same time escape from a difficult social situation. In On Air, however, he also talked about what synthesizers he enjoyed in the 80s and why he started using his legendary "keytar" Roland SH-101, i.e. keyboards hung around his neck. Which of his songs is his favorite today? How did he sing in a duet with Markéta Muchová, who is known to have no ear for music? And which jazzman influenced him the most? Watch the full interview. ON AIR is a talk show by music columnist Pavel Kučera with musicians and people from the music industry. A new episode is published every week on the YouTube channel kytary.cz.
