Max Brod was born in Prague in 1884 and died in Tel Aviv in 1968. He fled to what was then Palestine in 1939 to escape the Nazis. In a conversation with Georg Stadtler in 1968 - it was probably the last major interview before his death - he talks about how he grew up in Prague at the turn of the century and the cosmopolitan atmosphere that prevailed in the city at that time, and in particular about his long friendship with Franz Kafka. During the conversation, photographs from old Prague are shown, illustrating what life was like there at that time.
