In this video we show you how to make a typical German side dish yourself: sauerkraut. Sauerkraut is pickled white cabbage which is preserved through lactic acid fermentation and can be kept for at least 1 year. Spices are also added for a more varied taste. We used white cabbage from our own garden. Despite a few infected heads, we ended up with 18 kilos of cabbage. Have fun trying it out. ▬▬ Ingredients ▬▬ Amounts for 10 kilos of cabbage (ideal for a 15 or 16 litre fermentation pot) 10 kilos of white cabbage 150 g salt 50 g pepper 2 carrots 300 ml apple juice 3 bay leaves 1 handful of juniper berries 1 handful of allspice 1 tbsp caraway ▬▬ About this channel ▬▬ Our names are Daniel and Kay and cooking is our passion. We have made it our project to create our own vegetable garden so that we know what quality of food ends up on our plates. We process the freshly harvested ingredients in a non-electrical garden kitchen on site. We record the experiences and impressions we gather on camera so that we can share them with you viewers. We hope that our videos can encourage you to cook more for yourself and maybe even motivate you to grow your own vegetables. ▬▬ Recommended videos ▬▬ Boiling gherkins ???? Preserving cucumbers ????
