Ground liquefaction occurring in Urayasu city (Footage provided by viewer) The Japanese text is followed by an English translation. This video captures the liquefaction phenomenon that occurred in Urayasu city, Chiba, immediately after the big earthquake. Filmed near Takasu, facing Tokyo Bay in Urayasu city. Along a road that runs through an industrial area, as aftershocks continue. The hedges on the pavement shake, and gray liquid slowly flows out. Looking around, the ground is shaking in tandem for hundreds of meters, and water is overflowing everywhere. A close-up shot of the green belt facing the road from a height just above the ground shows that the low wall surrounding the green belt is shaking greatly, along with its foundations. Muddy water gushes out, making an eerie sound, from the median strip, the base of the electric poles, cracks in the asphalt, and gaps in the curbstones. Furthermore, near the coast, the ground itself shakes softly, revealing the fragility of the ground, and the gushing water ripples together with it. At Urayasu Minami High School, located very close to the coast, the foundations of the school building were exposed and the entire schoolyard was flooded. Looking away, the ground is shaking simultaneously up ahead a few hundred meters, and water is flowing out from everywhere. Taking a close-up shot of the greenbelt from the surface of the ground, one can witness that the low wall that surrounds the greenbelt is shaking greatly from the base of its foundation. Uncanny sounds are heard as muddy streams well out from the central divider, root of an electric pole, cracks of asphalt and gaps within the curbstone. Additionally, near the coast, the ground itself is swaying softly, exposing the fragility of its foundation. Water that sprung out becomes a part of it and together they form waves. At Urayasuminami high school close to the seashore, the foundation of the schoolhouse is exposed and the entire schoolyard has flooded. View map http://www.fnn-news.com/311/articles/...
