Aurélie Dupont was born in 1973 in Paris. Dreaming of becoming a ballet dancer since childhood, she took the competitive exam for the Paris Opera dance school at the age of 10, after having subjected herself to very rigorous training. She joined the corps de ballet at just 16 years old before becoming a principal dancer two years later. She was promoted to the rank of prima ballerina after her performance as Raymonda in Rudolf Nureyev's Don Quixote on December 31, 1998. Alternating between classical, neoclassical and contemporary, Aurélie Dupont dances in the ballets of Roland Petit, Pina Bausch and Sasha Waltz. She created two ballets with Benjamin Millepied and succeeded him as director of dance at the Paris Opera from 2016 to 2022.
