Nine different ethnicities, seven religious denominations, a shining timber industry empire, a unique railway network across the country - this is what the Kovászna County Commando once meant, which is now only a shadow of its former shining self. The flourishing of the wood industry empire was followed by a huge downfall. During communism, the "symbol of peaceful coexistence" and "one of the cornerstones of Székelyföld industry" was torn apart: its 200 kilometers of railways were scrapped, its locomotives and the machinery used in logging were destroyed. Today, it is almost empty: it is mostly inhabited by pensioners, who have to take on seasonal work in order to maintain themselves.
