The old town of Konstanz is probably one of the best preserved city centers in Germany. The buildings from different eras, which have been largely preserved in their original state, make a stroll through the city an experience. The city on Lake Constance became famous through the council that took place between 1414 and 1418. The aim was to end the Great Western Schism, which plunged the Catholic Church into crisis. These historic years are still present throughout the old town today.
